The Prophet taught it to his Companions, who taught it to the Tabi'een, who passed it to the Tabi' al-Tabi'een — and so it continued, mouth to ear, heart to heart, across fourteen centuries, through scholars of every generation, until it arrived — unchanged, uncorrupted, alive — with us today.
